El Al to raise fares as fuel costs increase

The airline's fares will rise by $10-20 on July 1.

El Al Israel Airlines Ltd. (TASE: ELAL) will raise arfares on long-haul flights to North America, South Africa, and the Far East by $20, and airfares on short-range flights by $10. The rise in prices follows recent increases in fuel prices.

Passengers will be able to purchase tickets at the old rates until July 1. El Al director of commerce and flight connections Rami Levy said that with prices of jet fuel reaching a record $70 a barrel, the airline had to adjust its fares accordingly.
