Gemini sees opportunity at TV festival

The fund will take part in the Rosh Pina Television and Film festival for the first time.

Gemini Israel Funds is looking for investment opportunities in television and will participate in the New Media panel at the Rosh Pina Television and Film Festival opening at the end of next week. The company says it sees the festival as an opportunity to meet entrepreneurs and find new ventures in the television industry.

Three years ago, Gemini identified two trends in the new media, and it has been selecting its investments in the field accordingly - the impact of new technologies on the media industry and the transfer of control over content to viewers. It has made ten investments to date in companies focusing on the new media chain, including Adap TV, Novafora Ltd., eSnips Inc., Olista, and Massive Impact.

According to Gemini senior partners Carmel Sofer and Avi Sasson, Israel has ventures with the most advanced concepts worldwide which are attempting to develop in a backward market. "Israel has the most advanced capabilities, creativity, entrepreneurship and know how in the world. It has experience in new advertising models, and an openness and willingness to try new things. Senior Israeli executives overseas can offer collaboration and move the local film industry forward, while local media professionals can leverage their skills and experience into the new media world, not just in Israel but globally too," they said.
