Delek chairman Last warns Ben-Eliezer of fuel crisis

PEI: We canot meet demand for fuel in the pipeline between the Ashkelon fuel terminal and Ashdod.

Sources inform ''Globes'' that Israeli fuel companies are warning the Ministry of National Infrastructures of a pending fuel crisis because of problems in the transport of fuel from Ashkelon fuel terminal to Ashdod.

Last week, Fuel Companies Association chairman Gabi Last, who also serves as chairman of Delek Group Ltd. (TASE: DLEKG), sent a letter to Minister of National Infrastructures Benjamin Ben-Eliezer in which he said that the problem in fuel transportation was liable to disrupt fuel imports and could cause a fuel shortage within weeks.

"Globes" was the first to report that higher than as a result of expected demand by Israel Electric Corporation (IEC), Petroleum and Energy Infrastructures Ltd. (PEI) said that it could not meet demand for fuel in the pipeline between the Ashkelon fuel terminal and Ashdod. This is the main pipeline carrying fuel to terminals in southern and central Israel.
