Search technology co Data Essence raises $1m

Battery Ventures, ProSeed, and Vertex made the investment.

Search technology start-up Data Essence Ltd. has raised $1 million from Battery Ventures, ProSeed Venture Capital Fund (TASE:PRSD), and Vertex Venture Capital. They made the investment through Technion Entrepreneurial Incubator Co. Ltd. (TEIC), which they own.

Data Essence CEO Amnon Mishor and CTO Yaron Karasik founded the company, which has been a TEIC portfolio company for several months. The company's research engine is based on semantic technologies, with the aim of exploiting Internet sources, and transforming complex processes such as monitoring, search and analysis of information into simple tasks. The technology enable users to customize and optimize searches.
