Keter Plastics to pay consumers to recycle

The company will launch the pilot scheme at its factory outlet in Yokne'am.

Keter Plastic Ltd. has announced a pilot scheme in which it will invite the public to return old plastic accessories in exchange for coupons to purchase new products. The company has undertaken to recycle the old products that people hand in.

Keter will launch the pilot at its factory outlet in Yokne'am and will extend it if it proves successful. Institutional customers can already recycle products at additional sites, including the company's manufacturing plants.

Keter will pay NIS 1 for every kilogram of plastic products handed in by the public. Although this is quite a modest sum, the company claims its main goal is to encourage people to recycle products they no longer have use for instead of dumping them in the garbage.

Most Keter products are made from polypropylene, which can be recycled using a controlled thermal process, which converts the plastic into raw material from which new products can be made.
