Ceva wins Taiwan licensing deal

MediaTek is a fables semiconductor supplier for the wireless industry.

Ceva Inc. (Nasdaq:CEVA); LSE:CVA) has licensed its Ceva-X DSP core to Taiwan's MediaTek Inc. (TSEC: 2454), a fabless supplier of semiconductor solutions for wireless communications and digital media. Ceva did not disclose the size of the deal. However assuming $0.10-0.15 royalties for each product sold with the company's DSP core, the deal could be worth millions of dollars.

Ceva CEO Gideon Wertheizer said, "MediaTek is widely recognized as one of the leading wireless semiconductor companies worldwide and we are pleased by their decision to adopt our Ceva-X DSP core and subsystem technologies."

The Ceva-X DSP architecture delivers high levels of performance at low power consumption. It is a scalable, multipurpose architecture designed for 3G and 4G phones, Smartphones, Personal Media Players and infrastructure equipment.

Ceva rose 2.9% to $8.54 on Nasdaq yesterday.
