On May 7th, the eve of Israel's Independence Day, over 300,000 people around the world will join in an attempt to break a Guinness world record for "most people singing a national anthem simultaneously". They will join to simultaneously sing "Hatikva", Israel's national anthem.

Jewish communities in Argentina, New York, Ukraine, Moscow, France, Netherlands, London, and San Francisco have registered for the event. Other participants include 1,000 Canadian participants of the March of the Living, and groups in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. 32 municipal mayors are registered as official witnesses (per official Guinness guidelines).

The initiative was established by leading Israeli businesswoman and philanthropist Galia Albin. The objective of the project is to increase awareness of the words to Israel's national anthem, and to promote the understanding of its contents and significance.

The Live Hatikva event will take place at 10:50pm Israel time and will be broadcast on Israel's major television networks, internet, cellular Phones, and major newscasts worldwide.
