Bar-On sees Israel in OECD by 2009

The finance minister was briefed on the progress to date in the membership process.

Minister of Finance Ronnie Bar-On predicts that Israel will become a full member of the OECD by the end of 2009. This evening, he will meet the heads of the OECD membership steering committee and the professional teams working on Israel's membership.

Bar-On was today briefed on the progress to date in the membership process and on the teams' work with the various OECD committees. The steering committee has completed the initial membership procedures as set out by the OECD. He was also informed that the steering committee has set up at least 18 work teams, which are reviewing the terms and conditions for Israel's membership.
