Buyers prefer gardens

71% of secular homebuyers prefer an apartment with a garden, against 55% in the religious sector and 41% in the haredi (ultra-orthodox) sector.

Most homeowners prefer a four-room garden apartment over a similarly priced five-room apartment without a garden, reveals a survey conducted by Mutagim Consulting for Delek Real Estate Ltd. (TASE: DLKR) subsidiary Dankner Investments Ltd.

The survey reveals that 71% of secular homebuyers prefer an apartment with a garden, against 55% in the religious sector and 41% in the haredi (ultra-orthodox) sector.

According to Dankner Investments CFO Sarit Saban-Shalit, apartments with gardens have become an alternative to private houses whose prices are usually double that of a garden apartment in the same neighborhood. "Tiered buildings with garden apartments is a solution that enables more families to have a home with a garden at a reasonable price," she says. "Another trend that we're now seeing is that buyers are now less uneasy about taking ground-floor properties."
