Walla Communications Ltd. (TASE: WALA) and ICQ Inc. today launched a joint communications product that combines instant messaging with Walla! content and services. The project is part of the company's cooperation agreement signed in March 2007, when ICQ changed partners, replacing Nana10 with Walla!, which is now exclusive provider of ICQ-based advertising sales in Israel.
Walla! will market Walla!-ICQ 6.0 through its portal. The new application offers a wide range of services, including free SMS messaging, cellular follow-me, multi-chat, one-on-one games, and rich emoticon gallery.
As part of the collaboration, ICQ users have direct access from friends' links to Walla! updates on movies, critiques, and trailers, as well as updates on Walla! Celebs.
ICQ collaborates with Walla! as part of its global localization strategy launched in 2004. ICQ signs strategic agreements with leading local portals that offer branded communications and content services for the target domestic audience.
