86% of public listens to radio - survey

Second Broadcasting Authority: Peak listening hours are 7:00-9:00 am on weekdays

86% of the public listens to radio and 65% listen to radio while driving, according to a survey by the Second Television and Broadcasting Authority. The findings were presented at the annual radio convention in Haifa.

The survey examined people's radio listening habits: how much they listen, when they listen, their satisfaction with the range and quality of content, and perceptions about the importance of types of programs and their interest in them.

Only 14% of respondents said that they do not listen to radio at all. Among respondents who listen to radio, most do so both on weekdays and weekends. Peak listening hours are 7:00-9:00 am on weekdays, reaching a peak at 8:00 am, when 50% of respondents said that they were listening.

Fewer people listen to radio on weekends. Peak weekend listening hours are 10:00-12:00, when 45% of respondents said that they listen.

65% of listeners listen to the radio while in their cars, and 59% said that they listen to radio at home.

The survey found that listeners are generally satisfied by radio content. Only 10% of respondents said that they were dissatisfied, while more than 40% said that they were satisfied or very satisfied with the range and quality of programs.
