Ceva wins multimedia licensing deals in Asia, Europe

One is with Sunplus mMedia, a developer of integrated controllers for digital still camera, handheld game, mobile phone and portable multimedia players.

Digital signal processor licensing company Ceva Inc. (Nasdaq:CEVA); LSE:CVA) has announced several new licensing agreements for its software for the development of system-on-chip devices. One is with Sunplus mMedia Inc., a developer of integrated controllers for digital still camera, handheld game, mobile phone and portable multimedia players.

The second is with semiconductor company Solomon Systech Ltd, which offers IC products and system solutions on an international basis under its own global brand. Solomon recently introduced the first processor platform based on its MagusCore multimedia processor.

Ceva did not report the expected revenue from the deals, but based on the company's usual model, it will receive several million dollars for the licenses, and royalties of about $0.10 per unit sold.

The licensing agreements will enable both Sunplus and Solomon Systech to support a wider range of applications such as video, audio, Bluetooth, GPS, or any other algorithm requiring digital signal processing without using designated multimedia accelerators.

Ceva also partnered with TES Electronic Solutions (TES), a global electronics design and manufacturing services company, to enable 2D/3D graphics applications on Ceva's MM2000 portable multimedia solution using TES' eVRU (embedded Vector Rendering Unit) technology.

TES is based in Langon-sur-Vilaine in northwestern France. It has 900 employees, including 500 design engineers.
