High-tech salaries fall

The average monthly salary was NIS 16,189 in the second quarter, 3% less than in the corresponding quarter.

The average high-tech gross salary was NIS 16,189 per month during the second quarter of 2008, 3% less than during the corresponding quarter of 2007, says Manufacturers Association of Israel Economic Research Department director Daphna Aviram-Nitzan. The report is based on analysis by the Economics Division.

The analysis found that salaries fell in real terms across most high-tech sectors. The average monthly gross salary in the electronics and equipment components sector fell by 6% from the corresponding quarter to NIS 11, 352 during the second quarter. The average monthly salary in the electronics communications sector fell by 3% to NIS 20,169 during the second quarter. The average monthly salary in the control and medical equipment sector fell by 1% to NIS 18,364 during the second quarter, and the average monthly salary in the transport equipment sector fell by 4% to NIS 13,759.

Aviram-Nitzan said that the average monthly gross salary in manufacturing was NIS 10,821 during the second quarter, down 1.8% in real terms from the corresponding quarter. She added, however, that the average salary in manufacturing was 30% above the gross average national salary and three times the minimum wage.
