Hirsch Media suspends "Businessweek" Hebrew edition

"Businessweek Israel" has a circulation of 27,000.

Sources inform ''Globes'' that Hirsch Media Ltd., owned by Shlomo Ben-Tzvi, has suspended publication of the Hebrew edition of "Businessweek", beginning with next Thursday's edition. Ben-Tzvi is also seeking to sell the franchise of the US weekly. Alternatively, he may go ahead with the launch with a partner.

Hirsch Media has published the Hebrew edition of "Businessweek" for just under a year, after signing a contract with the publisher of "Businessweek" for a Hebrew edition of the weekly 18 months ago.

The first edition of "Businessweek Israel" was originally due to hit the newsstands in September 2007, and be published every two weeks. The launch date was delayed for several months. Hirsch Media says that "Businessweek Israel" has a circulation of 27,000, which are distributed by subscription and at points of sale.

Hirsch Media said in response, "Like other Israeli media groups, the company is streamlining its operations and cutting costs and manpower."
