Huge jump in hacker attacks on Israeli sites

Hackers are aiming for quantity, not quality.

Quantity, not quality, is the guideline of hackers trying to shut down Israeli websites in response to Operation Cast Lead. Information security solutions developer Applicure Technologies Ltd. (TASE:APCR) reports a multifold increase in hacking at Israeli websites, as well as a large increase in attempts to hack protected websites.

Applicure founder and CTO David Allouch told "Globes", "We're talking about Iranian organizations, some of which call themselves communist, and organizations affiliated with Syria and Hizbullah. In contrast, during the Second Lebanon War in 2006, hackers were mostly kids from Morocco."

Hacked sites include Mazda Israel Ltd. and Cargo Airlines Ltd. (CAL). Allouch said that the main difference between the current hacking and the hacking during the Second Lebanon War was that, this time, hackers want to crash as many websites as possible, irrespective of their size.
