Histadrut head enters Tax Authority worker spat

The Histadrut's intervention follows the breakdown of contacts between the Israel Tax Authority workers committee and the Treasury.

Histadrut chairman Ofer Eini has been forced to intervene in the dispute between the Israel Tax Authority's workers committee and the Ministry of Finance after contacts between the two sides broken down.

Three weeks ago, Ministry of Finance officials attended a meeting with the Histadrut representative responsible for government employees but refused to sit with the chairman of theTax Authority's workers committee. The Ministry of Finance officials maintained that they had already presented their position on the negotiations and were waiting for the workers response on the subject.

The dispute between the Ministry of Finance and the workers committee reportedly revolves around the division of a pay rise for Israel Tax Authority employees and it is not about the NIS 27 million that has been agreed.

The Ministry of Finance supports the Israel Tax Authority director general Yehuda Nasradishi who has asked that about 20% of the money allocated will not be distributed to employees but kept back for overtime allocations and grants for specific sectors of the employees. The workers committee chairman is demanding that the money be divided up equally between all employees.
