Comverse to lay off hundreds

The cuts will include workers in Israel. Comverse has a global workforce of 4,500 with 2,600 employees in Israel.

In a new wave of layoffs, Comverse Technology Inc. (Pink Sheets: CMVT.PK) will reportedly cut about 400-500 employees from its workforce. The cuts will include workers in Israel, though it is not known yet how many Israeli employees will be cut.

In recent months, 20 to 30 Comverse employees were laid off in Israel, and in October and November Comverse laid off between 100 and 200 employees in its global workforce, including in Israel. In June, 2007, several months after Andre Dahan became CEO, the firm cut 360 jobs, about 6% of its total workforce.

In recent years, Comverse has reduced its global workforce to 4,500 from 5,050. There are 2,600 employees in Israel.

Comverse said that it does not respond to rumors.
