"Sooner or later, the world will realize that Iran wants to rule the Middle East and that it has colonial ambitions," President Shimon Peres said as he left for a meeting with Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi Yona Metzger today.
Peres added, "The collision between an Arab-Sunni Middle East and the Iranian minority that is seeking to control it is inevitable."
This morning, Peres made a round of Passover visits at the homes of Shas spiritual leader Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, Sephardi Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar, and Rabbi Metzger. Peres wished the rabbis well and a happy and kosher Passover, and held joint prayers for peace for Israel.
Ovadia Yosef welcomed Peres and extended his blessing to the People of Israel, saying, "May you have many good and pleasant years. The People of Israel will celebrate Passover with joy."
