Library automation system developer Ex Libris has recently sold systems to 14 libraries, located across three continents.

According to the company, the deals are worth $3 million.

The institutions which bought systems, including the Aleph and Voyager integrated library systems (ILS), include the National Library of Romania, the Library of Congress in Peru, the National University of Costa Rica; Iowa State University, Japan's Keio University, Université de Nice in France, University of South Bohemia Ceske Budejovice in the Czech Republic, Reformed Episcopal Seminary in the US , and École Normale Supérieure de Lyon in France.

National Library of Romania general director Elena Tîrziman said that the library was "very focused" on managing its print, electronic, and digital collections, and said, "The fact that all Ex Libris solutions are completely multilingual and enable a library to manage and provide access to diverse and complex collections weighed heavily in our decision."

Iowa State University has 26,000 students, who choose from over 100 majors.

The National University of Costa Rica is the second largest public university in that country, with 15,000 students.

Jerusalem-based Ex Libris develops automation solutions for academic, national, and research libraries. It was bought about a year ago by New York private equity firm Leeds Equity Partners, which specializes in education and the knowledge industry.
