Foreign minister: I'll resign if indicted

However, Avigdor Lieberman emphasized: If you ask me, I'll stay on as party chairman and foreign minister for two more years and until the next elections.

"I'd do everything exactly the same again if I had another opportunity," said Minister of Foreign Affairs Avigdor Lieberman at the opening of the Israel Beiteinu Party meeting today in response to the Israel Police recommendation to indict him.

Lieberman added, "I'm pleased that after massive efforts and my petition to the High Court of Justice, the investigation is over, and I hope that the State Prosecutor' Office will also reach a quick answer. I must state that yesterday, I went over everything that happened in the past few years. I'm at peace with everything I've done.

"As far as I'm concerned, the watershed will be when the attorney general makes a decision after a hearing, if there is one. If he decides to file an indictment, I'll resign at that moment, and I assume that within three or four months I'll resign as party chairman, so that matters will be transferred smoothly."

Yet Lieberman emphasized, "If you ask me, I'll stay on as party chairman and foreign minister for two more years and until the next elections," Lieberman concluded.
