Health fund workers threaten Sunday strike

The strike by administration employees will affect all Clalit clinics and hospitals.

The 15,000 administration employees of Clalit Health Fund have announced a strike on Sunday, as part of their labor dispute declared a few months ago. The strike, if it is carried out, will hit all of Clalit's clinics and hospitals, including Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva, Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot, Soroka Medical Center in Beersheva, Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba, and Ha'Emek Hospital in Afula.

Administration employees include clerks, maintenance staff, cleaners (who are not contract workers), laundry workers, kitchen staff, and sanitary staff. A strike by these employees will severely disrupt Clalit's clinics and hospitals, and force the postponement of all non-essential medical procedures.

Clalit workers committee chairman Prof. Ben Hamo said that the decision to launch a strike was made after Clalit's management refused to update the salaries of administrative employees.

The parties could still strike a deal before Sunday, which could delay the walkout.
