Internet analysis co Genieo raises $3m

Genieo CEO Sol Tzvi: Our technology has turned the concept of the homepage as we know it today into a personal tool for everything.

Internet analysis start-up Genico Innovations Ltd. (formerly Anabel) has raised $3 million from private investors. The company will use the proceeds to further develop its platform, which is now in a closed alpha version with about 1,000 users.

Genieo CEO Sol Tzvi and chairman Jacob Tenenboem founded the company in 2008. The first product developed on the basis of the company's technology was a desktop application, which identifies the user's fields of interest and surfing habits to create a personalized homepage that includes relevant widgets content. The content includes innovative features, as well as features from social websites, such as Facebook and Twitter, which the system identifies as relevant for the user.

Tzvi said, "Our technology has turned the concept of the homepage as we know it today into a personal tool for everything. Genieo builds for the user a homepage that is entirely information and content, personalized and constantly updated based on the changing interests of the user at work, home, and liesure."

Tzvi added that the product is based on micro-behavioral targeting, which can monitor surfing habits, weigh them, and build a personalized homepage.

Tzvi told "Globes", "In contrast to other behavioral targeting solutions, which invade the user's privacy to some extent, our product is based on the user's personal computer, and all personal information stays on the user's computer."
