Mekorot and Yossi Maiman team for Trinidad water projects

The joint venture will develop, plan and build water projects worth $100 million.

The social-economic cabinet today granted approval to Mekorot Water Co. Ltd. subsidiary Mekorot Development and Enterprise Ltd. to work together with Yossi Maiman's Merhav Group in Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean.

As part of the project, the joint venture that will be registered in Israel and will work with the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA), the Trinidad and Tobago national water company, will develop, plan and build water projects worth $100 million. The work will include a project to improve the drinking water supply system, the overall supply management, and upgrading water treatment plants.

Mekorot Development and Enterprise is already active in Trinidad. Last September, the company signed a consultancy and training agreement with WASA, and in November an agreement was signed for developing water management and carrier infrastructures.

The company also operates in South America. In Argentina, the company has been providing consultancy to a large water cooperative for the past three years.
