Ministry does not let iPad into Israel

The iPad does not meet Israel's Wi-Fi standards, which are similar to the European standards rather than US standards.

The Ministry of Communications has not issued an entry permit for the iPad. The Ministry said, "The iPad, which is today only sold in the US, operates using a Wi-Fi modem suitable for US standards."

The announcement added, "Since the Wi-Fi regulations in Israel are similar to the European standards, which are different from the US standards that allow low-supply transmissions, the supply transmission prevents the device from receiving approval in Israel."
