EarlySense study identifies patient deterioration

The patient monitor developer will present its findings at the ILSI-Biomed conference in Tel Aviv this week.

Patient monitor developer EarlySense Ltd. today reported positive results of a study conducted on 200 patients at several hospitals in the US and Israel.

The results show that EarlySense's Patient Supervision System is effective in identifying advanced respiratory analysis patients who are likely to deteriorate. The EverOn system combines the measurements of respiratory rate, heart rate and a new respiratory pattern alert called “Double Respiration Pattern."

The data will be presented this week at the Israel Life Sciences Industry (ILSI) 2010 Biomed Conference in Tel Aviv.

EarlySense CEO Avner Halperin said, “Continuous patient monitoring is gaining increased importance in hospitalized patient care as evidence accumulates on its value for aiding clinicians in making timely and accurate care decisions. We are excited about the results of this research that shows that the EverOn’s measurements effectively alert upon patient deterioration. The EverOn system is the next natural step in the ongoing efforts of hospitals to improve patient safety and quality of care. Contact-free, continuous supervision technology turns the hospital bed into a safer place."

Last week, EarlySense raised $13 million in its third financing round. The company has raised $24 million to date.
