Despite tension, exports to Turkey up 8.5%

Trade with Turkey is still higher than in 2009, even after the flotilla incident.

The Turks are in no hurry to boycott Israel. Israeli exports to Turkey were 8.5% higher in July 2010 than in June, Central Bureau of Statistics figures indicate. July was the second full month since the Gaza flotilla incident on May 31.

Israeli exports to Turkey rose to $128.3 million in July from $117.9 million in June. Imports from Turkey, however, fell to $137.9 million in July from $152.5 million in June. Compared with May, Israeli exports to Turkey are down 16% and imports are down 11%.

Trade with Turkey is still higher than in 2009, even after the flotilla incident. Israeli exports to Turkey in July were 57% higher than the $81.6 million in July 2009, and imports from Turkey were 1.4% higher than the $136 million in July last year.

Israeli exports to Turkey rose 32% to $811.8 million in January-July from $615.2 million in the corresponding months of last year. Imports from Turkey rose 30% to $1.04 billion in January-July from $804.5 million in the corresponding months of last year.
