Tue: TASE gains bring index within 0.1% of record

Knesset discussion of energy royalties kept oil and gas firms in focus. Delek, Delek Drilling, and Avner all rose.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) rose today. The Tel Aviv 25 Index rose 1.1% to 1,236.83 points, the Tel Aviv 100 Index rose 1.1% to 1,139.03 points, and the Tel-Tech Index rose 0.93% to 234.19 points. Turnover was NIS 1.8 billion.

The gains brought the Tel Aviv 25 Index to within 0.1% of its all-time high.

Gains were led today by Delek Group Ltd. (TASE: DLEKG),which jumped 3.5%. Delek Group controlling shareholder Yitzhak Tshuva was one of the speakers at the Knesset's Economic Affairs committee discussion of royalties on oil and gas found in Israel.

The discussion apparently put Delek's oil and gas exploration units in investors' focus as well. Delek Drilling LP (TASE: DEDR.L) rose 3% and Avner Oil and Gas LP (TASE: AVNR.L) rose 2.8%.

In contrast, Isramco Ltd. (Nasdaq: ISRL; TASE: ISRA.L) shares fell 0.7%, after reporting yesterday that it decided in principle to raise about NIS 240 million.

Israel Chemicals Ltd. (TASE: ICL) shares rose 2.1% in the day's highest turnover, at NIS 129 million.

Electra Real Estate Ltd. (TASE:ELCRE) shares jumped 5.1%, after reporting that it signed a contract with Isrotel Ltd. (TASE: ISRO) to lease a seaside hotel in Tel Aviv. Investment house IBI said, "The project contains in it giant profits that are not included in the financial statements," and reiterated a "Buy" rating on Electra Real Estate.

Africa-Israel Investments Ltd. (TASE:AFIL; Pink Sheets:AFIVY) added a 6.9% gain to Sunday's more than 14% jump, after an "Outperform" rating from Clal Finance.

The bond market was generally higher, as long-term Shahar shekel bonds rose by up to 0.2%, and long-term Galil CPI-linked bonds rose by up to 0.4%. The corporate bond Tel-Bond 60 Index was up 0.2%.
