Mount Hermon Ski Resort opens today

The resort opened a month earlier than usual after this week's heavy snow.

This week's winter storm included heavy snow in the Galilee and Golan in an amount not seen in years: 1.5 meters fell at the northern end of the Mount Hermon ski lift.

The Mount Hermon Ski Resort will be opened to visitors and skiers this morning, and the access roads to the resort have been jammed all morning.

The Mount Hermon Ski Resort said today, "This is a real surprise. We usually only open here in January, and last year we were only able to open the site in late January, more than a month later than this year's opening."

The resort believes that the snow will last for at least a week, though it admits, "it is hard to say whether the ski conditions on all the runs will stay good. It all depends on the weather."

The Mount Hermon Ski Resort concluded, "The heavy snow at the start of the season is very welcome. We hope for a successful continuation that will enable the people of Israel to taste the snow and enjoy it for many weeks of this season."
