Information security co Covertix raises $1m

CEO Alon Samia: The major WikiLeaks affair woke up the industry.

Sources inform ''Globes'' that information security start-up Covertix Ltd. recently raised $1 million from Kima Ventures, which has been active in Israel for several months.

Covertix CEO Alon Samia and CTO Tzach Kaufmann founded the company in 2006 at the Sde Boker incubator. The company develops enterprise information security products that enable the command and control of documents and the confidential information contained in them without halting or disrupting regular work.

Covertix has raised $1.5 million from private investors since it was founded.

The company has several customers in Israel, including banks, an insurance company, and defense companies.

Samia told "Globes" today that the company was about to sign contracts with customers in Europe. "The ability of the partners in Kima Ventures to help us reach large customers in Europe enables to move forward quickly," he said. "The major WikiLeaks affair woke up the industry, and now everyone, from government institutions to private companies, is looking for solutions to protect sensitive documents from employees seeking to use them for extraneous purposes."
