Health fund looks to add orthodontics to plan

Israel's orthodontics and dental rehabilitation market has a turnover of hundreds of millions of shekels a year.

Sources inform ''Globes'' that Maccabi Healthcare Services has asked the Ministry of Health to add orthodontics, including dental implants, to its health Maccabi Gold supplementary health insurance plan. The fund is asking in exchange to raise rates by 14%.

Monthly payments for Maccabi Gold are currently NIS 115-168 per family. The proposal will add NIS 16-24 per month.

Maccabi Gold has over 1.5 million policyholders, 82% of the health fund's members.

Maccabi is offering a 65% discount on orthodontics and dental rehabilitation procedures, irrespective of age.
