Motorola sells control of Beeper to Elisha Yanay

The deal for Beeper Communications involving the former Motorola Israel head was for a few tens of millions of shekels.

Former Motorola Israel general manager Elisha Yanay and a partner have acquired the 51% controlling interest in Beeper Communications Israel Ltd. from Motorola Solutions Inc. (NYSE: MSI) for a few tens of millions of shekels. A group of investors headed by Avraham Mar Shalom owns the other 49% of Beeper, and it is not yet clear how they will cooperate.

Motorola Israel thus continues to implement its new strategy to focus on a limited number of fields, and sell everything that does not fit in with this strategy. As part of the strategy, Motorola Inc. sold its stake in Israeli mobile carrier Mirs Communications Ltd.

Beeper Communications currently has 470 employees. It mainly provides services to the defense establishment and investment institutions. The company's solution fits in with Yanay's long-held opinion that civil defense will expand rapidly worldwide.
