Netanyahu: "Israel could be a global cyber power"
"Israel has the potential and the sparks of genius to be one of the world's top five."
Last month, Netanyahu announced the establishment of a national cyber project.
Netanyahu began his speech by emphasizing the significance of the cyber world and the goal he has set for Israel: "We must become a significant player in the cyber world. This is integral for our security and also to position Israel as a world leader in the 21st century. Despite the fact that this field is not an exact science, we must clearly become a part of it.
"We are living in an incredible era that is changing at a dizzying speed, where the future belongs to innovators in the form of individuals, companies or countries. What we've accomplished up until today does not exempt us from what we need to achieve in the future," continued Netanyahu and outlined the main areas he wished to focus on: "There are three main focal points: security, industrial and academic/scientific. The combination of these three points in one triangle, whose points nourish each other, could give us additional power. We have an opportunity here to create a process and a project that could put Israel into orbit." Netanyahu added, "Israel has the potential and the sparks of genius to be one of the world's top five."
