Guinness judge Rob Mollow who came to Israel to crown the company: Babylon is following in the footsteps of Firefox and Facebook.

Online translation company Babylon Ltd. (TASE:BBYL) today claims to have broken the Guinness record for downloads for language solutions. Guinness judges arrived in Israel to crown the company.

Guinness judge Rob Mollow said, "This is an important achievement for Babylon, which is following in the footsteps of other companies like Firefox and Facebook, which recently set records for the largest number of downloads in 24 hours, and the greatest number of likes for a page."

Mollow added that the characteristics of a Guinness record in technology have changed in recent years. "If people were once interested in the Guinness record for the world's tallest man, internet records are now especially popular. We expect many new digital records to be set."

Babylon CEO Alon Carmeli said that the company has marked two other achievements: 100 million users of its products, and joining the Alexa list of the top 100 websites.

Babylon's share price rose 0.8% by mid-afternoon today to NIS 6.57, giving a market cap of NIS 300 million.
