China's HiSense Electronic to instal eyeSight's touch free interfaces

Last month, the company signed a contract with Chinese content provider Huan TV to provide gesture recognition based content to its customers.

Sources inform "Globes" that China's HiSense Electronic Co. Ltd. (SSE: 600060) will install the touch free interfaces for digital devices developed by Israel company eyeSight in the televisions that it manufactures.

The company did not disclose the size of the deal.

HiSense's television sets, which support Internet connectivity with a Google - Android operating system will be marketed in the Far East in the first stage, and subsequently in Europe and North America.

This is not eyeSight's first major contract in China. Last month, the company reported that it had signed a contract with Chinese content provider Huan TV to provide gesture recognition based content to Huan's customers.

eyeSight CEO Gideon Shmuel told "Globes" that the company was hoping to install its technology in the products of others TV manufacturers. He said, "HiSense is developing applications based on our technology which enables control of games and media management."

He added, "We understand that HiSense will install our technology not only in its expensive screens but also in its medium priced screens."

eyeSight plans embedding its technology in a range of gadgets that will be operated without physical contact such as answering telephones while driving, and transferring photographs onto TV screens without needing a remote control consul.

Several years ago, eyeSight developed smartphone applications for Nokia that enabled basic actions using hand movements. Shmuel said that today the company does not see itself as an applications manufacturer but rather a provider of software to customers.

eyeSight was founded in 2004 and has raised $4.5 million from Eli Talmor, Rami Lipman and private investors. The company is in the process of raising an additional $4 million.

eyeSight has 20 employees and has offices in Herzliya, Hong Kong, and Cupertino, California.
