69% of Israelis own their homes

Rishon LeZion has the highest proportion of home ownership, at 77.1%, and Tel Aviv has the lowest, at 45.5%.

Average monthly household expenditure is NIS 13,496 in the cities surveyed. Rishon LeZion has the highest average monthly household expenditure, at NIS 16,837, and Ashkelon has the lowest, at NIS 10,330.

Average monthly per capital expenditure was NIS 4,050 per month. It was highest in Tel Aviv, at NIS 6,720, and lowest in Bnei Brak, at NIS 2,458.

The average number of persons per household is 3.3, ranging from a high of 4.4 persons in Bnei Brak to a low of 2.3 persons in Tel Aviv.

Average residential density is 0.9 persons per room. Bnei Brak has the highest density, at 1.2 persons per room, followed by Jerusalem at 1.1 persons, and Ashdod at one person.

Tel Aviv-Jaffa has the highest proportion of renters - 47.3% of households - and the highest expenditure on rent, averaging NIS 3,403 per month. Average rent in Tel Aviv is triple the average of NIS 1,123 per month in Beersheva, and 1.5 times the national average of NIS 2,282. Tel Aviv also has the smallest rental apartments, with an average of 2.5 rooms, compared with an average of 2.9 rooms in Beersheva.
