Procter & Gamble to hire Israeli PhDs

P&G Israel Innovation Center director Lital Asher said, "This is the second year that the company is hiring for its global R&D ranks.

Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE: PG) is seeking to strengthen its innovation division with Israeli brainpower. The company today began taking applications from engineering and science students who are completing their PhDs either this year or next to work for its two R&D programs.

Procter & Gamble is offering an internship program in Europe. Graduates can join one of the company's R&D centers, which currently employ 9,400 scientists. The second program is a four-day R&D seminar at the company's innovations center in Germany. Outstanding participants can join the company.

Registration for the programs is through P&G Israel's website. Registration will close on November 30. Applicants who pass the screening process will attend an event on December 12 in Tel Aviv, where they will undergo further screening.

P&G Israel Innovation Center director Lital Asher said, "This is the second year that the company is hiring for its global R&D ranks. Last year, we hired five researchers with unique capabilities in the life sciences and computing. The company's global R&D team was impressed by the quality of the Israeli researchers, who achieved a score 20% above the global average of candidates."

Procter & Gamble's Israeli innovation center collaborates with the Office of the Chief Scientist, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Nasdaq: TEVA; TASE: TEVA), and Powermat Ltd., which is developing wireless battery rechargers.
