Israeli start-up Traffix Systems will be sold to F5 (Nasdaq: FFIV) of the US for $130 million. The company, founded by Ben Volkow in 2005, develops software systems to improve fourth generation cellular network traffic (LTE).

So far, Traffix has raised only $13 million (NIS 50 million) from, among others, Bessemer Venture Partners, the Shaked brothers, Stage One Ventures , and Benny Schnaider.

Traffix addresses an acute problem in the telecommunications market that stems from a growing data load due to the use of smartphones and tablets.

This is not the first acquisition by F5, which develops telecommunication equipment to improve the performance of enterprise networks. F5 acquired MagniFire Websystems, Inc. for $30 million and Crescendo Networks Inc. for $5.6 million.
