Tower expands e2v collaboration

Tower's annual revenue will be boosted $10 million as e2v increases production of sensors and cameras embedded with Tower's CMOS Image Sensor technology.

Tower Semiconductor Ltd. (Nasdaq: TSEM; TASE: TSEM), which markets as TowerJazz, today announced increased production of e2v Technologies plc (LSE: E2V) products embedded with Tower's CMOS Image Sensor (CIS) technology. The technology is used in e2v's Ruby low light CMOS imaging sensors and the ELiiXA+ high speed multi-line scan camera, which were launched in the fourth quarter of 2011.

A market source told "Globes", "The increase in production by this customer will boost Tower's revenue by $10 million a year within two years."

e2v and Tower have collaborated for six years. e2v already uses Tower products, manufactured at its Fab2 in Migdal Ha'Emek, in its products, including sensors for industrial, medical, scientific and space applications.

Tower VP Dr. Avi Strum said, "Our close R&D collaboration is key in making successful and high performing sensors. Our CIS process technology is a great enabler for companies like e2v making high-end CIS products."

Tower's share price was unchanged by midday on the TASE at NIS 2.97, after rising 2.2% on Nasdaq yesterday to $0.80, giving a market cap of $254 million.
