Mobile web co DudaMobile raises $6m

The company will use the proceeds, raised from Pitango Venture Capital, to expand its R&D and marketing.

Mobile website developer DudaMobile Ltd. has raised $6 million from Pitango Venture Capital. The company earlier raised $2 million in seed funding from private investors, including its chairman, Oren Zeev, and Zohar Gilon.

DudaMobile's platform adapts websites for smartphones. CEO Itai Sadan and CTO Amir Glatt founded the company in 2009. Headquartered in Silicon Valley, the company has a development center in Tel Aviv with 15 employees, half the company's workforce. Glatt says that the company will use the proceeds to expand its R&D and marketing.

DudaMobile says that it already has revenue, and that 1.3 million websites have used its platform. Most of the company's clients are small and mid-sized businesses that mainly work with websites rather than applications. Glatt believes that, in future, the company may also be able to offer a platform for creating applications for communications facilities and mobile computers.
