Zappix launches mobile fast-payment app

The app saves users the need to listen to a utility or service provider's longwinded menu voice message.

Zappix Ltd. has launched a mobile fast-payment application which saves users the need to listen to a utility or service provider's longwinded menu voice message. The application opens a visual window with a list of utilities, enters his or her personal data, and only then places the call, and the application automatically runs through the menu to make the payment.

The service allows payments of parking tickets, the water bills and arnona (local property tax) for 20 municipalities, and gas bills.

Zappix is available for iPhones, Android devices, and Blackberries.

Zappix founder and CEO Saadia Ozeri says, "We've taken the next step to turn Zappix into the ultimate access point for receiving service."

Zappix has raised more than $1 million from Cedar Fund and private investors, and is currently seeking to raise several million dollars. The company is not yet profitable, although it has revenue. "Our business model is based on companies that want to provide better service for customers who have to pay bills. The app streamlines customer service and saves the company money. Many calls are made to the wrong service reps, which costs the company money," says Ozeri.

Earlier this week, Dov Moran launched Sherut.net, which offers direct calls to companies' call centers. Sherut.net is similar to Zappix. "The overlap is at the level of service providers," says Ozeri. "Beyond that, the difference is huge. We enable users to carry out the entire process without leaving the application. Moreover, we carry out the process on his behalf. We bring the person to the company's call center without the need to dial the number."
