Conference networking co Bizzabo raises $1.5m

CEO Eran Ben-Shushan: The most impressive part so far is that it actually works.

Conference networking app developer Bizzabo has raised $1.5 million from Kaedan Capital Ltd. and AfterDox, and private investors Gigi Levy, and games theory expert Prof. Yair Tauman. The company will use the proceeds to establish a presence in the US, hire staff, and expand its user base of conference organizers and attendees.

Bizzabo has raised $1.8 million since it was founded by CEO Eran Ben-Shushan, VP business development Alon Alroy, and VP product Boaz Katz in 2011. The company's app, available for both iPhones and Android-based smartphones, makes possible real-time networking at business conferences on the basis of the participants, LinkedIn accounts. Participants can use the app to update their attendance plans and be updated about other possible participants, in order to network during the conference.

The app allows users to review other participants' LinkedIn profiles, before making contact during the conference, both via the app or in person. Users also receive the conference schedule, panels, and speakers, and it offers a special Twitter channel for discussion.

Gigi Levy, the former CEO of 888 Holding plc (LSE:888), said "Bizzabo has one of the best teams a start-up can ask for with the outstanding ability to transform the way we connect with each other at events. Bizzabo’s offer for organizers and attendees is a game changer for the meetings industry."

Ben-Shushan said, “This is an incredible added value that Bizzabo provides and it can be leveraged by users to discover networking opportunities they never would have found previously. The most impressive part so far is that it actually works. Our users discover events, discover people and build business relationships in the offline world."
