PwC: Israel has highest EMEA Internet penetration rate

According to PwC, Israel was in second place for fast-Internet penetration at 86.4%, just trailing Switzerland in top place with 86.5%.

Israel has the highest Internet penetration rate for any country in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), according to a media and entertainment report published by accounting firm PwC. The report sees Israel to continue leading until 2015.

PwC found that in 2011 Internet penetration in Israel was 95.5%, and is expected to rise to 96.4% and then to 98.7% by 2016.

Despite this consistent growth, Israel will lose first place in Internet penetration in the EMEA region to France, which will reach 99.1% by 2016.

In terms of fast-Internet Israel is also high up on the list. According to PwC, Israel was second with fast-Internet penetration of 86.4%, just trailing Switzerland in top place with 86.5%.
