Cabinet unanimously shuns BMW - report

"Yediot Ahronot": Under public pressure, 28 ministers and top public officials have opted for the Citroen C5 over the BMW 528i.

Hebrew daily "Yediot Ahronot" reports that, under public pressure, 28 ministers and top public officials have opted for the Citroen C5 over the BMW 528i. The Government Vehicles Administration has ordered 28 cars for the public officials, including Governor of the Bank of Israel Prof. Stanley Fischer.

The Citroen C5 has a 1,600-cc 156-horsepower turbo engine, leather seats, electrically moveable front seats, and other features. Each car costs NIS 205,000.

The tender is for 50 cars for ministers, Supreme Court judges, the Police commissioner, and other officials.
