Elbit Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: ESLT; TASE: ESLT) has won an $18.5 million contract to establish a mission training center for fighter aircraft for the air force of a Latin American country. The contract will be carried out during 2014.
The mission training center is designed to improve the operational training of pilots in various mission scenarios, in varying war zones, and in the relevant threat environment of each war zone - a cutting-edge training capability, which has not been available to air forces in the past. It will enable the customer to operate some of the training sorties onboard the trainers instead of fighter jets, thus allowing optimal use of existing resources.
Elbit Systems said that the new contract was a milestone in its mission training activities, and followed the establishment of the mission training center for the Ministry of Defense for F-16 and F-15 fighters.
