Jacob Perry quits Mizrahi Tefahot for politics

Perry is resigning as Mizrahi Tefahot Bank chairman to join Yair Lapid's Yesh Atid list for the Knesset.

Jacob Perry is resigning as chairman of Mizrahi Tefahot Bank (TASE:MZTF) to join Yair Lapid's Yesh Atid list for the 19th Knesset. In a notice to the TASE, the bank said that Perry notified it that he would resign, and that he would notify the bank of the date the resignation will take effect in a separate notification.

Perry, a former director of the Israel Security Agency (the Shin Bet), will fill the defense slot in Yesh Atid's party list. He served in the Israel Security Agency for 29 years, before entering the private sector. Before joining Mizrahi Tefahot Bank, he served as chairman of mobile carrier Cellcom Israel Ltd. (NYSE:CEL; TASE:CEL) for eight years. In addition to serving on the board of several companies, he is an outside consultant for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) maker Aeronautics Ltd. and mobile services provider Cellglide Ltd.

In addition to Perry's business activities, he serves as the prime minister's coordinator for POWs and MIAs. He has lectured in Israel and in other countries on security, terrorism, radical Islam, the peace process with the Palestinians, and economic and technology issues. He published his memoirs about his service with the Israel Security Agency.
