Wed: Perrigo dips on results

Stocks fell today in the wake of the US election and a bleak outlook from the ECB president. Bank Leumi, Perrigo, Mellanox, and Africa Israel were notable decliners, but telcos firmed.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) fell today. The Tel Aviv 25 Index fell 1.42% to 1,212.20 points, the Tel Aviv 100 Index fell 1.62% to 1,073.02 points, and the BlueTech 50 Index fell 2.84% to 323.06 points. Turnover was NIS 869.4 million.

The TASE fell today, in line with losses on European markets and at the opening on Wall Street, the day after US President Barack Obama won reelection, and following today's warning by European Central Bank President Mario Draghi that eurozone economies would remain weak in the near term.

In the bond market, long-term Shahar unlinked government bonds rose by up to 0.1% and long-term Galil CPI-linked bonds rose by up to 0.3%. The corporate bond benchmark Tel-Bond 20 Index rose 0.01%.

In the foreign currency market, the Bank of Israel set the shekel-dollar representative exchange rate at NIS 3.979$, down 0.39% on yesterday's rate, and set the shekel-euro representative exchange rate at NIS 4.973/€, down 0.23%.

In the stock market, Perrigo Company (Nasdaq:PRGO; TASE:PRGO) fell 5%, for the biggest loss among Tel Aviv 25 shares, after publishing its financials for its first fiscal quarter late in the session.

EZchip Semiconductor Ltd. (Nasdaq: EZCH; TASE:EZCH) fell 4.1%, and Mellanox Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq:MLNX; TASE:MLNX) fell 1.5%.

Telcos, Partner Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTNR; TASE: PTNR) stood out with a gain of 2%, and the Telecommunications Index bucked the market with a gain of 0.5%.

Bank Leumi (TASE: LUMI) fell 2.2% on the day's biggest turnover of NIS 61 million.

On the Tel Aviv 100 Index, Africa-Israel Investments Ltd. (TASE:AFIL) fell 5.9%. Yesterday, "Globes" reported disagreements between the banks on the debt of Memorand Management Ltd., the private company through which Lev Leviev controls Africa-Israel.

InsuLine Medical Ltd. (TASE: INSL) rose a further 12%, after reporting today that it obtained a patent in Russia. Pluristem Therapeutics Ltd. (Nasdaq:PSTI; DAX: PJT: PLTR) rose 3%, after announcing that it had completed development of a new production method.

Eldan Tech Ltd. (TASE:ELDN) fell 14.7%, after jumping 127% in the two preceding sessions, following a handsome valuation for a company that it intends to acquire.

LivePerson Inc. (Nasdaq: LPSN); TASE: LPSN) fell 18.6%, after publishing its financials yesterday.
