Consumer confidence rebounds

The Consumer Confidence Index rose sharply in October 2012, returning to its level of June.

The Consumer Confidence Index, compiled by Globes Research and pwc Israel, rose sharply in October 2012, returning to its level of June. The index rose 13.9 points to 77.4 points (baseline 100 = 1996), after falling 1.3 points in September and 8.2 points in August.

In trend figures (the moving average for the three preceding months), the Consumer Confidence Index rose by 1.5 points in October to 68.6 points, after falling 12 points in August-September.

Both the current and trend figures show that the slide in consumer confidence of the preceding months has halted, but they do not indicate a turnaround. The October figures appear to be a correction to the previous slump in confidence since the summer, but not a change in the public's mood.
