Thu: Tel Aviv 25 down 0.7% on week

EZchip rose strongly despite reporting poor results, and Bezeq fell back on the day's biggest turnover, after reporting its financials.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) fell today. The Tel Aviv 25 Index dipped 0.05% to 1,211.57 points, the Tel Aviv 100 Index fell 0.10% to 1,071.96 points, but the BlueTech 50 Index rose 1.25% to 327.10 points. Turnover was NIS 823.5 million.

The leading TASE indices fell slightly today, despite gains on European markets and at the opening on Wall Street. The Tel Aviv 25 Index fell 0.7% for the week, after rising 0.8% last week.

In the foreign currency market, the Bank of Israel set the shekel-dollar representative exchange rate at NIS 3.903/$, up 0.62% on yesterday's rate, and set the shekel-euro representative exchange rate at NIS 4.975/€, up 0.03%.

In the bond market, long-term Shahar unlinked government bonds rose by up to 0.1%, and long-term Galil CPI-linked bonds ranged between losses of 0.1% and gains of 0.3%. The corporate bond benchmark Tel-Bond 20 Index fell 0.18%.

In the stock market, EZchip Semiconductor Ltd. (Nasdaq: EZCH; TASE:EZCH) rose 7% after publishing its financials, for the biggest gain among Tel Aviv 25 shares. Its high-tech peers Mellanox Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq:MLNX; TASE:MLNX) and NICE Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: NICE; TASE: NICE) rose 0.6% and 0.5%, respectively.

Bezeq Israeli Telecommunication Co. Ltd. (TASE: BEZQ) fell 0.8% on the day's biggest turnover of NIS 58 million, after publishing its financials after the market closed yesterday. Bezeq's controlling shareholder, B Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq:BCOM; TASE: BCOM) fell 5.2%, and it controlling shareholder Internet Gold Golden Lines Ltd. (Nasdaq: IGLD; TASE:IGLD) fell 5.3%.

Mobile carriers were split, with Partner Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTNR; TASE: PTNR) up 1.7%, but Cellcom Israel Ltd. (NYSE:CEL; TASE:CEL) down 2.4%, for the biggest loss among Tel Aviv 25 shares.

Banks fell today, after "Globes" reported yesterday that the Bank of Israel may force them to make an aggregate NIS 3 billion one-time write-off for credit losses. Bank Hapoalim (TASE: POLI) shed 1.1% and Bank Leumi (TASE: LUMI) fell 1.5%.

Tamar partners rose today, with Isramco Ltd. (Nasdaq: ISRL; TASE: ISRA.L) up 1.5%, and Delek Group Ltd. (TASE: DLEKG) units Avner Oil and Gas LP (TASE: AVNR.L) and Delek Drilling LP (TASE: DEDR.L) up 0.2% and 1%, respectively.

Also in the industry, Myra and Sarah licensees Israel Land Development Company Energy Ltd. (TASE: IE) and Modiin Energy LP (TASE:MDIN.L) rose 7% and 6.2%, respectively, after reporting that there was still a chance of success in deeper strata at the licenses.

On the Tel Aviv 100 Index, LivePerson Inc. (Nasdaq: LPSN); TASE: LPSN) corrected upwards 5.5%, Allot Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq:ALLT; TASE: ALLT) rose 6.7%, and PhotoMedex Inc. (Nasdaq: PHMD; TASE: PHMD) fell 4.1%, after publishing a weak guidance for the fourth quarter.

Pluristem Therapeutics Ltd. (Nasdaq:PSTI; DAX: PJT: PLTR) fell 8.9%, after "Bloomberg BusinessWeek" said yesterday that the company concealed important information from investors in possible violation of US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) rules.

Insurance companies fell hard today, led by a 3.3% drop by Migdal Insurance and Financial Holdings Ltd. (TASE: MGDL) and a 2.3% drop by Menorah Mivtachim Holdings Ltd. (TASE: MORA).
