Givot: Meged 5 well to resume production

Production at the oil well was suspended on November 13, due to a breakdown.

Givot Olam Oil Exploration LP (TASE:GIVO.L) today notified the TASE that oil production at the Meged 5 well will resume, two weeks after production was halted due to a breakdown. The company said that oil and gas samples from the well were sent to a laboratory for testing. It added that it had received some of the initial answers and that it expected to receive the data analysis within a few days.

On November 13, Givot announced that the pumping of oil from the Meged 5 well had been suspended, after the sensors which monitor the emission of toxins indicated excess gases from the borehole. Sources said that the gas was apparently hydrogen sulfide, the same gas as halted work at the Noa well.

In the notice to the TASE, Givot said, "In the interests of greater safety, it will carry out further checks and take samples from the Meged 5 well for analysis. The general partner estimates that this is not a significant problem, if any."
