Sun: Banks lead bull market

Bank Leumi and Bank Hapoalim rose on the day's two largest turnovers.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) rose today. The Tel Aviv 25 Index rose 1.33% to 1,227,17 points, the Tel Aviv 100 Index rose 1.55% to 1,084,59 points, and the BlueTech 50 Index rose 1.83% to 337.14 points. Turnover was NIS 1.04 billion.

The TASE rose today, in line with gains on European markets and on Wall Street on Friday. The TASE is back to its levels before Operation Pillar of Cloud.

In the bond market, long-term Shahar unlinked government bonds rose by up to 0.1% and long-term Galil CPI-linked rose by up to 0.2% The corporate bond benchmark Tel-Bond 20 Index rose 0.14%.

In the foreign currency market, options pointed to a 0.08% gain in the shekel-dollar exchange rate, compared with Friday's representative rate, to NIS 3.877/$, and a 0.15% gain in the shekel-euro exchange rate to NIS 5.002/€.

In the stock market, almost all Tel Aviv 25 shares rose today, led by a 3.7% gain by Oil Refineries Ltd. (TASE:ORL). Its sister company, Israel Chemicals Ltd. (TASE: ICL) rose 1.6%, and their parent company, Israel Corporation (TASE: ILCO) rose 1.2%.

Bank Leumi (TASE: LUMI) rose 2.2% and Bank Hapoalim (TASE: POLI) rose 1.6%, boosting the Banking Index 2.1%. The two banks had the day's largest turnover: NIS 50.5 million for Bank Leumi and NIS 52.3 million for Bank Hapoalim.

Osem Investments Ltd. (TASE: OSEM) fell 0.2%, after publishing its third quarter financials, and EZchip Semiconductor Ltd. (Nasdaq: EZCH; TASE:EZCH) fell 0.2%

Elsewhere in the market, FIBI Holdings Ltd. (TASE: FIBI), through which Zadik Bino controls First International Bank of Israel (TASE: FTIN), rose 2% in heavy trading.

The Insurance Index rose 2%, led by a 5.4% gain The Phoenix Holdings Ltd. (TASE: PHOE1;PHOE5) and 4.9% gain by Menorah Mivtachim Holdings Ltd. (TASE: MORA).

IDB Holding Corp. Ltd. (TASE:IDBH) rose 9.1% after receiving the final payment for Clal Industries and Investments Ltd. (TASE: CII), which rose 5%. IDB holding company Discount Investment Corporation (TASE: DISI) rose 3%, after reporting its financials.

Tower Semiconductor Ltd. (Nasdaq: TSEM; TASE: TSEM) rose 7%, and Clal Industries subsidiary Clal Biotechnology Industries Ltd. (TASE: CBI) rose 6.6%. Babylon Ltd. (TASE:BBYL) rose 5.8%.

Partner Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTNR; TASE: PTNR) controlling shareholder Scailex Corporation (TASE: SCIX; Pink Sheets:SCIXF) rose 43.9% on reports of possible movement for a sale of its stake in Partner, while Scailex's parent company, Suny Electronics Ltd. (TASE: SUNY) rose 12.2%.

Irrespective the liquidation of Kaman Holdings Ltd. (TASE:KMNH), its subsidiary TAT Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq:TATT; TASE:TATTF) rose 4.3% today, following an 8% jump on Nasdaq, after publishing revenue and profit growth for the third quarter.
